Process

There’s no one template that fits all, but here are the guidelines, our guiding principles, that show us the way in how we deal and design the Build landscape while ensuring we stay true to our testaments.

While building the program the first clues can be built by doing and in depth study of the local context. It begins by understanding the site and its immediate physical built character to understand how our Built mass would fit in the existing scheme of things. Further clues are derived from the user, understanding their main trope, the material and crafts that are native to that place, its history if any and the main cultural cues. These guide us in our quest to deliver a project that not only speaks to its setting but thrives there.

Developing the vision

The next step is to understand the finer merits and how our ideology can be induced in the program. It is important to understand how the quality of our built environment can deeply affect the human psychology of the user. The slow intricacies of building with Hands, the impact of engaging all our senses and the resulting bridge that it forms with our mind which in turn leads to leaving a more lasting memory of the place, are the main points of emphasis in all the programs.

How does materiality and these hand build processes come into place

The materials that we use and the techniques that are implemented are the main drivers of this narrative. Letting the craftsman bring their own identity, their own ideas of the material and ways of handling them can lead us to better outputs than envisioned. The details are the most important factor when it comes to working with our hands and each new artisan, material and site will lead us to a different, more innate detail that would be optimum for that project. Each individual has their own way of addressing the material and treating them, and this is the bespoke quality that would be attained for each project when we work freely with the craftsmen.
